CalmCare sensory compression shirts are manufactured extra-long to provide sensory input to all of the torso.
CalmCare shirts can be worn as clothing or undergarments and help children regulate their body and filter sensory information, which enables them to listen, focus and learn while staying calm, and become more self-aware.
CalmCare is designed to wear all day, every day to keep the sensory system calm. Reassuring, gentle pressure provides proprioceptive feedback (information received from muscles and tendons, concerning body movement and position).
CalmCare undergarments allow children to wear their favourite clothing (or school uniform) while enjoying the calming benefits and minimising meltdowns. All CalmCare undergarments have special external stitching for a seamless feel and stamped labelling for children with tactile sensitivity. CalmCare is manufactured from a high quality, breathable, moisture-wicking, special sensory fabric which is durable and keeps the wearer cool, dry and comfortable all year round.
If your measurement is between two sizes, you are best choosing the smaller size.
Let me start by saying we've now tried 5 brands of compression shirts for my sensory seeking Autistic 5-year old. This one made such a difference, that he begged us for it back when we took it off to wash it. That was a HUGE sign for us. It only took a couple hours of wearing it before we saw him really settle, and be able to work in a workbook, or play at the train table without bouncing. Even his teacher mentioned they were seeing a difference at school! These shirts are not thick (a problem we had with one brand) but are VERY snug. The material is soft, and he hasn't complained at all about how it feels against his skin. It definitely takes a little work to get it on and off, but the results are worth it. He has no trouble keeping it on all the time, even for bed. We got about 3-days before his behavior starts to revert back, and we know it's time to wash it. My ONLY complaint, is that I'm in the US and it took 3 weeks for it to arrive. We'll be ordering more soon, but not looking forward to the shipping.
I purchased a long-sleeved therapy shirt and a pair of therapy shorts. I used the measurement chart when ordering. The shirt is awesome. I wear it nearly every day (when it's not being washed). The shorts, however, are a bit too big. I am actually waiting for a response to see how to exchange them for a smaller size. I like the therapy wear, the tightness (compression) is comforting (I'm autistic w/ sensory issues), and they are well made. I have ordered 2 more long-sleeved therapy shirts, 3 therapy vests, and 3 more therapy shorts (in the smaller size). These are made and sold in Australia. Interestingly, I could find nothing comparable in the United States where I live. I recommend these for autistic individuals with sensory issues. They help me.
CalmCare really works, this is amazing
Got this last December for my 8yr old kid with ASD. It's been so hard going to grocery , fast food or restaurants for us, but since we got him the CalmCare shirts, our day to day was amazing, we even go to a fast food & restaurant without meltdowns & some bad moments... he's really calm while wearing the CalmCare shirts...I see the difference with him even in his waiting time, he's been patient even if it takes 3 hrs waiting (we did visit a friend house last December and he wears the CalmCare shirt the same day we received it dec 21 & it works faster than we thought). This is amazing...unlike before without the shirt , we can't stay in our friends place for a longer time we had to leave early...and one of the most precious one is finally we got a family picture without transferring from one area to another area where he wants to sit, but because of calm care he's really quiet & calm and can sit on his chair without complaining, thank you so much calm care this is amazing , it's worth the price , we don't have regret buying it.
CalmCare Undervest - Adult
Excellent product. I am an autistic adult. The vest provides enough physical pressure (a sensory distraction) to enable me to remain calmer and experience less anxiety as I cope with an overly intense world. I generally wear a long-sleeved therapy shirt and therapy shorts all the time (24/7). I have seen a significant benefit. When I know I will be in a particularly stressful situation, I also wear a therapy vest on top of the long-sleeved shirt. My experience has been positive so I recommend them to autistic adults.
I love love love the short sleeve shirt. Wear with outfits that hide the longer sleeves and no one knows I'm wearing it. The extra sensory feedback on my arms is so much nicer and calming than I expected.
